4 Weddings, 4 Dresses

This summer I have been fortunate enough to attend the weddings of 4 very dear friends ❤️ and, as with any special occasion the question on every girl's lips is.... What am I going to wear???! Now initially (to save some pennies) I made the decision that I would buy two dresses and alternate for four weddings-makes sense right?! However, as is the downfall I face quite often I got far too tempted by all the gorgeous dresses in the shops! So suffice to say, I ended up,with 4 dresses, for 4 weddings!

Ted Baker and Topshop

The dress on the left is from Ted Baker and was the first dress I bought! The most expensive of them all, but being able to be worn two ways (it's reversible) it was totally worth it!

The dress next to it was an absolutely steal in the Topshop sale- one dress, my size, it was meant to be!

Asos and Marks & Spencer

As you can see from my dress choices, I was definitely a fan of the pastel fashion this summer! 

On the left is a dress from ASOS. I loved wearing it and felt like a cast member of Dirty Dancing, swaying on the dance floor

Finally, the pale blue dress is by Limited Collection at Marks & Spencer and was probably the most comfortable of them all!

I had an incredible time at all weddings and felt great in all outfits!

London Love

As mentioned in previous posts Let the Weddings Begin and A New Jersey Wedding I have had the honour of attending a number of weddings this summer and wedding number three brought me straight back to London! It was a beautiful summers day and was the perfect way to celebrate the nuptials of my two good friends, Dan and Sara!

Dan looked rather dashing in his three-piece suit (I loved the colour) and Sara looked absolutely gorgeous in her dress, topped off with a flower crown and a glowing smile!

The ceremony was held in one my favourite places in London, The Islington Town hall- an intimate setting with an incredible amount of character! Only a stones throw away from where Dan and Sara first met, it was the perfect venue choice!

After a few photos on the steps of the town hall, we all took our seats on an old school route-master bus! (A London staple and a great mode of wedding transport). With the champagne popping and everyone laughing and joking, I knew it was going to be a damn good celebration! 

We arrived at the wedding reception venue, a gastro-pub in the heart of Kings Cross. Dan and Sara had taken the time to decorate the venue with photographs of them and all their loved ones, as well as including a number of lovely personal touches at the reception; traditional Kiwi (in honour of the bride) and British (in honour of the groom) sweets, a wedding cake made by one of Sara's oldest and closest friends and a special musical performance from a talented friend of theirs! All these personal touches really added to the celebration and were a true reflection of them both! ❤️

After some touching speeches from Sara's dad, Dan's brother, the beautiful bridesmaids and of course the groom himself, we then went on to eat, drink, dance the night away and be extremely merry! 

Anyone who knows Sara, knows that she is an avid photographer and capturing special moments is something very close to her heart. In order to do this Dan and Sara decided to hire a photo both and what a brilliant addition to the wedding it was! After a few glasses of bubbles, we all took great delight in using props, pulling silly faces and posing for a countless number of pictures! What a great way to add to their memories!

It was such a pleasure to be a part of Dan and Sara's special day and to celebrate their true love for one another!

London Loving

Currently being on summer holidays means not only do I get to travel and see countries and cities, it also means I get to do things in London that I love! 

First up is brunch! The holidays give me plenty of time to catch up with friends and what better way to do so than over eggs and mimosas. The Bluebird Cafe is one of The Kings Road's institutions and I'm happy to say that the brunch did not disappoint!

Amazing eggs benedict with one of the best hollandaise sauces I've tasted (next challenge is to make one of my own), and all washed down with a mimosa- happy Tuesday!

A lovely afternoon spent in SW3!

Another benefit to being on a break is having well needed 'me time', which more often than not involves coffee, cake and catching up on gossip and fashion (cue piles of glossy mags).

A few friends have recommended Look mum no hands (in Old Street EC1) a bike repair come coffee shop.

Comfortingly the cute place was filled with people like me- on their own seeking solitude and damn good coffee! As a dedicated tea drinker, I tend to have no more than 2/3 coffees per week so the fact that I had 3 over the course of 2 hours really does say a lot about how good the coffee was!

Cake! Cake! Cake!

As an N1 resident with Upper Street practically on my doorstep, I always look out for new places that pop up and the most recent is Belle Epoque- a French patisserie selling a range of beautiful cakes and pastries. Now the hardest thing about venturing into a bakery is deciding which naughty treat to have, but as a lover of a lemon tart my decision was made for me- just look at it!

In keeping with a 'cake theme' a friend and I recently treated ourselves to a visit to Laduree in Covent Garden Piazza. With an extensive range of macaroons, again making decisions was difficult.

In the end I chose a salted caramel, raspberry and chocolate coconut marshmallow! No one makes a macaroon like Laduree!

Tea, coffee, brunch and MANY cakes called for a bit of exercise and what better way to do so than to walk along the Thames taking in the sights of my home city!

New York, New York

It's been a while since my last post... With the end of the school term and then the summer holidays, I've been super busy (all of which shall follow in the next few posts)! But first, back to July and to NYC!

After a few days of fun on the Jersey Shore (see last post Jersey Shore Weekend), I headed into Manhattan for a couple of days mainly to catch up with friends and enjoy the NY atmosphere! (Okay, and a little bit of shopping). This was my 6th trip to the city and each time I fall that bit more in love with it. On this occasion I was fortunate enough to be staying with some friends on Park Avenue (an apartment with an amazing view)!

Being Manhattan locals, my friends always take me to the finest restaurants and once again they didn't disappoint. Jumping a cab from Park Avenue down to the West Village we arrived at an Italian restaurant- L'Artusi and dived straight into the a number of courses! The highlights had to be the Beef Carpaccio, Roasted Beets (delicious), the Bucatini pasta and the mouthwatering Strawberry Macaroon dessert!

The next day I put on my walking shoes and did what I love to do best in NYC! I walked up through Central Park, down 5th Avenue, through the Flatiron and all the way to Bleecker taking in the sights and atmosphere along the way.

Another amazing trip to my favourite city and I'm pretty sure it won't be my last!
